Polyethylene (PE) coating is a high-performance, multi-layer protective system applied to the outer surface of steel pipes. It has become the industry standard worldwide, particularly for natural gas, oil and water transmission lines.

How Does the 3-Layer Structure Work?
- Inner Layer (FBE – Fusion Bonded Epoxy): Forms a strong chemical bond with the steel surface, providing the first barrier against corrosion.
- Middle Layer (Adhesive Copolymer): Acts as a mechanical and chemical bridge between the epoxy and the outer polyethylene layer.
- Outer Layer (HDPE): High-density polyethylene forms the physical shield against impact, abrasion and mechanical damage.
Why Is It So Effective?
Because each layer performs a distinct protective function, the system as a whole forms an exceptionally strong barrier against both chemical and mechanical damage — allowing underground and subsea pipelines to perform reliably for decades.
