Epoxy coating is a surface protection method that gives metal surfaces an attractive finish while also providing strong chemical and mechanical resistance. Built from two-component resin systems, it cures into a very hard, tightly adhering film.
Advantages of Epoxy Coating
- High resistance to chemicals and abrasion
- Wide range of color and aesthetic finishes
- Excellent barrier against water and moisture
- Can be combined with galvanizing to form a “duplex system”
Typical Film Thickness and Performance
Industrial epoxy coatings are typically applied at a dry film thickness (DFT) of 150-300 micrometers per coat, and can be built up in multiple coats for more demanding chemical exposure. Under the ISO 12944-5 classification for protective paint systems, high-performance epoxy systems used in C4-C5 (industrial/marine) environments are rated for 15-25+ years of durability before major maintenance.
Where Is It Used?
Epoxy coating is widely used on industrial flooring, tanks, pipelines, steel structures and architectural applications. At Altınova Epoxy Galvaniz, we offer both standalone epoxy coating and epoxy-over-galvanizing (duplex) applications.
